In a recent episode of The Trend Report podcast, Sid Meadows sat down with Shelley Rosetta, Principal at Solomon Coyle, to talk about her career journey, the evolving dealer landscape, and what it means to lead with authenticity and adaptability in today’s commercial interiors industry.

Shelley’s path into the office furniture world began with childhood space planning and led to a degree in interior design, dealership leadership, and eventually to her current role at Solomon Coyle. Throughout the episode, Shelley reflects on her diverse experiences across dealerships and manufacturers—and how those experiences shaped her curiosity and eventual transition into consulting.

Highlights from the Conversation:

The Path Less Talked About

Shelley emphasized the importance of exposing young designers to the full breadth of career opportunities in our industry. “They don’t tell you in school that you can be a rep or work at a dealership,” she said. Both she and Sid agreed on the need for more proactive outreach to high school and college students to build awareness around the rich ecosystem within commercial furniture.

Services That Stick

As the industry faces uncertainty in 2025, Shelley urged dealers to invest in operational excellence, adaptability, and relationship-building. She sees huge potential in service-based revenue streams like logistics, project management, or client education, that help create “stickiness” with clients even during market slowdowns.

Embracing AI & Innovation

From accelerating RFP responses to simplifying customer service, Shelley and Sid explored practical applications of AI across the quote-to-invoice pipeline. Their takeaway? AI should be here to elevate how you do your job. Shelley encouraged dealers to embrace AI and digital transformation not with fear, but with curiosity and creativity.

Leadership Lessons

As a champion of servant leadership, Shelley believes in building Rockstar teams, not spotlighting oneself. Her advice to industry leaders in 2025: “Be authentic. Know who you are. Get clear on your message. And build a company that people want to work for and with.”
